Professor Renxiang Tan, born in 1960 in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, is a distinguished scholar in organic chemistry and natural products. He is a professor at the Institute of Functional Biomolecules, Nanjing University, where he has been a faculty member since 1992. His research focuses on bioactive secondary metabolites from medicinal plants and symbiont-, insect-, and marine-derived microorganisms, with applications in drug discovery.
Professor Tan has published over 300 scientific papers, authored four monographs, holds 15 patents, and has led numerous national and provincial research projects. He is a recipient of the RSC Natural Product Reports Lecture Award and China’s State Natural Science Award (First Prize), among other major honors.
